Loren Benn-Nelson is a passionate vocalist, educator, TEDx speaker, and advocate whose work bridges music, education, business, and personal development.

As an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, Loren teaches contemporary music genres while emphasizing financial literacy and career sustainability for artists.

She serves as Director of Training and Development for the International Artists League Boston and as Director of Education at the Boston Jazz Foundation, where she developed a financial literacy program for musicians.

Loren is also the Founder of Benn & Company, a music management consulting agency dedicated to empowering women in the music industry. She is the creator of the Micro-Talents™ framework, a movement that challenges traditional ideas of talent and helps individuals recognize the often-overlooked strengths that create meaningful impact in their communities, workplaces, and everyday lives.

  • Loren earned a degree in Biology from Marymount University while maintaining a vocal jazz residency at Grand Annex Studios in San Pedro. 

    Loren relocated to Boston and attended Berklee College of Music, graduating summa cum laude. 

    At Berklee, she refined her musical skills while also contributing to the local music scene by performing with Grammy-nominated musicians and entering the world of voice-over work, becoming the voice of Arizona State University's entire online educational library.

  • Loren is the Director of Training and Development for the International Artists League Boston, the largest general business band on the East Coast, which boasts a roster of over 400 professional musicians. In this role, she focuses on creating equitable pay structures and advocating for the financial sustainability of artists. 

    She is the Director of Education for the Boston Jazz Foundation and has developed a specialized financial literacy program for musicians and creatives.

    She is the Founder of Benn & Company, a music management consulting agency dedicated to empowering women in the music industry and helping them build lasting legacies of leadership.

  • Originally from Altadena, California, Loren grew up in a musical and ministerial family as the eldest of seven siblings. Music was an integral part of her upbringing, and she began performing with her family band statewide from a young age. Her early exposure to music not only shaped her artistic journey but also instilled in her a deep sense of community and purpose that continues to guide her work today.

    Loren's diverse musical career has allowed her to collaborate with some of the industry's most respected names, including Grammy-winning artists like Kelly Clarkson, James Blake, and Debo Ray. She has graced the stage at prestigious venues such as The Blue Note in New York, the Rose Parade, and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, as well as holding regular performances at the Westin Copley Place and First Night Boston.
